Program: Residential, ADU Location: Hillsborough, California Size: 500 SF Phase: Permitting FOLIE A DEUX GUEST HOUSE + RECORDING STUDIO blends a small guest house and recording studio into a Smithsonian-recognized landscape of old trees, excursive paths, and flowering shrubs. Rather than take up a larger portion of the verdant site, we opted for the smallest possible footprint that will still accommodate all of the clients’ needs, utilizing other architectural strategies that expand the building’s experiential footprint and create spaces that feel open and dynamic. Recording Studio on day 1, in-law unit and guest house in the future, the design offers seclusion and privacy from the main house while opening itself up to the garden and protected creek.
